Bayfield and Lake Superior offer the 22 Apostle Islands in a National Park setting that preserves the natural resources and history of the area.
The Bayfield area is one of the premier sailing destinations in the world and is home to more sailboats than any other port in the Great Lakes. Take a sailing tour of the historic Apostle Islands lighthouses or kayak to the sea caves on Sand Island. Take a scuba diving trip to one of the many older ship wrecks located in the Apostles, or a brisk swim in Lake Superior off of one of many fine sand beaches.
During the summer, Big Top Chautauqua offers renowned entertainment by international, regional, and local performers. It's an experience you don't want to miss.
Shopping, art galleries, a tour of local orchards, bicycle tours, the Whistle Stop Marathon, the Apple Festival and the Scarecrow Festival round out the many area choices available! Visit the Maritime Museum or the Isle Vista Casino north of Bayfield.
Winter fun abounds with dog sledding, skiing, snowmobiling and a hike to the ice caves.
